Changing The Plans...

I just have to say how amazing the Lord is! He ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, takes care of His children. Anybody disagree? Didn't think so.

After a great Christmas and New Year, I traveled back to KY to go back to nannying. Only to find out that my boss was unfortunately "let go" from her job. She was very high up in the administration at a hospital chain throughout KY and had been in that position for 10 years. They "dissolved" her job and made three different ones out of it...which she of course interviewed for...but sadly wasn't offered. Therefore, I am no longer a full time nanny. It's extremely heartbreaking for me not to see the boys everyday, but moreso knowing that my boss is suffering through this big time.

Praise the Lord though. I was able to pick up way more hours at the salon and will still see the boys at least once a week!!! God is so good!

Well, I have strep throat...ugggg. I went to the doctor Friday morning and got some meds...which seem to be working fast! I toughed it out for my Friday evening (mentioned below), but have been laying down most of the day today.

Next....I TURN 23 THIS COMING MONDAY!!! AH!!!! Okay, I know it's young...but for some reason 23 seems so wierd to me. Anyway, I'm super excited! Some friends from church and I celebrated a little last night by seeing the traveling Broadway muscial, WICKED! It was fantastic!!!!

Eating out at a nice dinner before hand.

THE SHOW! WICKED!!!

I guess that's all for now. Hope everyone has a blessed weekend!

The Perfect Morning

It seems as though since Josh got home, I have been slacking on my blog posts. So, here's something to write about. A perfect morning as a nanny!

First, I wake up and realize my hair still looks great from it's 4:00 pm wash the previous afternoon, so I went back to bed for more sleep. When this happens, my heart is happy!

Then I get to work and get Jonah ready for gym class at this place. Which in itself always makes for a perfect morning! He loves it there! As his dad walks out the door he informs me that Noah has a Christmas party at school and they will be attending and then taking him out to lunch afterwards. When they do something like that, they usually don't have him home until 2ish. But that also means that Jonah doesn't get his little 20 minute nap in the car while waiting on Noah to get out of school. Which means he's WAY cranky during the two hour gap between lunch and nap. :-( No fun.

Well today was a different story. He even started the whole day off by giving me big hugs and kisses. He can be really lovey if he wants. I had a few errands to run after gym class and he was prefect through them all. Just as sweet as could be. Around 11:30 we headed home and he fell asleep just a few minutes from the house. I figured he would wake up though when I got him out of the car, but not this time! He was sound asleep!

So what do I do? TAKE ADVANTAGE!!! I carried him in and plopped us both down on the couch for a 30 minute nap! IT WAS PERFECT! Cuddle time with the cutest one year old I know AND a nap!

Can I hear an amen for naps and a perfect day?!

********UPDATE: 2 DAYS JUST LIKE THIS IN A ROW!!! WAHOO!!!!!********

Memorable Moments In Nannyhood

I must start off by saying I'm wearing a darn cute outfit today that I bought here just the other day. And why is it that when you have on a new outfit you feel invincible? I dunno why, but today I definitely did! Therefore I took both kids here today for lunch (which we do every other week or so)! But this one had a Play Place! ;-) Which, I had never let Jonah, the 17 month old, play in.

But remember, I feel invincible today!

So we walk in, get our food, sit inside the Play Place to eat, and chow down! After finishing, both boys were eager to get down and play. Noah got done earlier than Jonah so he went and played by himself for a while and made friends with another boy there named Noah (we'll call him Noah2). I sat and contemplated on letting Jonah play in it or not, because I definitely didn't want to crawl all up in there to help him.

But remember, I feel invincible today!

So I decided that if Noah helped Jonah he should be just fine. Jonah and I go to a kids gym class every week and is exceptional in his climbing skills, falling and picking himself back up like nothing happened skills, and playing well with others skills. So, what the heck...why not right?!

Remember, I feel invincible today!

Everything went great!! The whole time they were playing great! Noah and Noah2 never left Jonah and took great care of him. I could hear them laughing the whole time...too cute!

Noah comes down the slide and says, "Um Miss Lane, I can't find the baby." (Why he called his brother "the baby," I have no idea.) I said, "Well I can hear him, so go look at the top of the green slide." Just then, I hear Noah2 yell, "FOUND HIM!!!" It wasn't long after that he comes sliding down the slide on his belly giggling the whole way down.

But wait...WHERE ARE HIS PANTS?!?

That's right...a pantless Jonah just slid down the slide...also missing one sock. He's been having "problems" lately with leaking out of his diapers due to some medicine he takes. Let's just say it's called "Diaper Chocolate." So of course fear struck in knowing that it was just about time to change that diaper! "OH NO! WHAT IF THERE'S DIAPER CHOCOLATE ALLLLL OVER THE PLACE!?!?!" So I run over, laughing might I add, to see all is clear in that department. But still, where are his pants and sock. Oh gee, I'm going to have to crawl all over this Play Place to find them Just then, Noah2 comes sliding down with pants and one sock in hand!

That's right, I'm invincible today!

It's A Long One...Are You Up For It?

There are too many things to write about since the last time and just not enough space in my brain to sort it all out and blog it....so, bare with me.

First off, my love surprised me just a few days before my swinging through Springfield (on my way home from a wedding over Labor day weekend in OK) to tell me that he's jumping in the car and coming back to Louisville with me! FOR A WHOLE 10 DAYS!!

**Backing up for a moment to the road trip to my friend's wedding...I found out my best friend Katherine Powell and her husband are PREGGERS!!!!!!! WAHOO! They are due April 7, 2009!!**

My boss was so sweet to let him come with me to work and play with the kids. Let me tell you what, that boy shocked me all to pieces! He was so great with Noah and Jonah. Since I've gotten back from MO, the four year old, Noah, has asked everyday where Mr. Josh is. Pretty sure he loves him more than he loves me. hehe But that's okay. They listened so well to him and really respected him. To say the least, Josh is going to be a GREAT father. At one point, we were both sitting on the couch waiting for parent's to get home and had both boys crawling all over us. We were all just laughing so hard! Once it started to settle down, Josh looked at me and said, "Foreshadowing? I just can't wait. This is going to be so much fun!"

Then, we both drove back to MO for 4 days where we:

1. Spent some time with my parents who just moved into their new home in Fordland, MO!

2. Had the official "Future In-Law Dinner". Which I must say went amazingly well...the dads seemed to hit it off! Dad has said a few times since then he can't wait to go motorcycle riding with David! haha

3. Celebrated Josh's 21st birthday and "Anchors Aweigh-Bon Voyage" in OK at the Grand Lakes with most of his extended family. It was so great to meet everyone I had been told about and for them to finally believe Josh that he wasn't making me up! hah

4. And of course, dreadfully said goodbye to Joshua for the last time before he leaves for the Navy. Which is September 23...this Tuesday...ya, that's right....today is Sunday evening...so I have one more full day to speak with him. I'm pretty much banking on not hearing much from him since he has to earn his phone calls (that even if he earns them, they can take it away just to tick him off) and he's not much of a writer. I will definitely be sending him letters, but I know he'll be so busy it'll be hard for him to find time to write anyway.

I come home to:

1. ALL OF LOUISVILLE OUT OF POWER FROM A WIND STORM.

2. No place for food, gas, or any sort of light in the darkness.

3. A very hot apartment and extremely hot place of work.

4. PRAISE GOD! Our power came back on Tuesday! However, the people I nanny for didn't get theirs back until Friday.

5. Some of Louisville is STILL without power and it's officially been 7 days. UG. I took these pictures on my way home from church today just right down the road from me. :-(

This week includes:

1. Nannying

2. Mary Kay parties...WAHOO!

3. Talking to Josh early early Tuesday morning for the last time before boot camp. The 9 week countdown will then begin. Booo....

4. Working at the salon.

5. Getting as much sleep as possible....I've been lacking lately. ;-)

So there you have it....the last three weeks of my life in blog form....and an extremely long one at that. If you read the whole thing, YOU'RE AWESOME! ;-)

Formal Induction Into Nannyhood

First off, it's been WAY too long since I last posted. My deepest apologies. I know you have all been checking everyday to see what's new and what a let down I am. TOTALLY KIDDING!

So this week was my first full week with the boys; Noah (4) and Jonah (1). It has been so much fun taking Noah to swim lessons and hearing how he was at the beginning and getting to see how much of an improvement he's made over the summer. He's such a little fish with no fear! And yes, I'm a VERY proud nanny of one week!

Jonah is one and doesn't try to say any words most of the time, so I hear a lot of "ooooo's" and "mmmmmmm's" in order to let me know something is up. We're working on that of course. He's starting to catch on to the fact I don't answer to that. He finally said "more" the other day after 3 full days of asking him, "Oh, you want MORE?" every time, I mean EVERY TIME, he moaned to get more food or drink. He looked closely at my lips, smiled, and quietly said, "more"....which of course I praised so much he has chosen to make that the only time.

So enough about that....you probably want to know what I mean by "induction into nannyhood" right?!?!?

Well before I go into that (Haha...gotcha! You won't be disappointed. PROMISE!).

Yesterday morning I was shaving my legs in the shower with my foot propped up on the side of the tub. As I leaned forward towards my foot to start another stroke, my foot slipped and I rammed my forehead into the tile shower wall. Which of course I hit hard enough to throw me backwards and I had to catch myself from falling all the way down by grabbing the shower curtain. No really, it's okay, go ahead and laugh! I did. I was sure that my head would be bruised with a huge bump on it, but luckily I walked away with one very sore forehead (still does a lot today too) and that's it!

Phew! That was a close one.

Oh yes, induction...that's right.

Only about 2 hours after the tragic shower incident, Jonah and I joined Noah in his parent's room where he was watching his morning cartoons to see how he was doing. I was leaning towards him chatting it up when the induction happened. That's right, this was no rose ceremony where everyone sings songs and brings dates for a formal dinner....it was a "happening" that will forever remain with me. Jonah and I love to play this game each morning where he does this plop down thing on the bed and throws his head back fast for me to tickle him. This time, he turned around and as he flung his body backwards, my eye got in the way. Yup. Jonah's hard head + Lane's eye = HUGE GOOSE EGG ON MY BROW BONE AND A BLUE...THEN PURPLE...NOW RED AND BLACK EYE!!!

As rubbed my eye I looked a Jonah and see him looking at me rubbing the back of his head with this look of "Oh man, I know that had to hurt her! She looks in pain." Although it hurt so bad I could have cried, I sucked it back and made sure Jonah was okay (which he didn't cry at all thankfully). I didn't think much about taking a look at it in the mirror or anything, until the four year old said about 10 minutes later, "Um, Miss Wayne. Your ieh wooks big and it's bwack. You swould pwrobawy wook in da miwo!" [Translation, like you really need it: Um, Miss Lane. Your eye looks big and it's black. You should probably look in the mirror!"] Sure enough, after wooking in da miwo, my eye was definitely big and bwack!'

To be honest, I think I might have slight concussion from the two big blows to the head. Yesterday evening I had a pretty bad dizzy spell, as well as three today while at the salon working for 10 hours. I don't think it's serious, but enough to make me dizzy and have a constant headache.

I'm now officially a "nanny" with a battle wound to prove it. This lovely picture was taking an hour after blow number 2. Today, the goose egg is gone, but still swollen a tad and definitely red and black. I must say though, it's in the perfect place that you can't see it much unless I close my eye...and it kind of looks like dark eyeshadow after doing some patchwork with some makeup! haha

All is well and life goes on! You know what would make me feel better?!?! TO HEAR YOUR INDUCTION STORIES!!! They could be funny, painful, or memorable...take your pick!

**UPDATE ON 8-8-08...a very large bruise has now appeared on my forehead...Oh joy!**
